Jazz Rule
PK's impresssions of Game 1

At halftime of last night's game, I turned to my wife and said it was time to turn off the television.
Hey, hey, hey, get your mind out of the gutter.  I'm talking sleep.
Point was, we didn't need to watch the rest of the Jazz game. It was over, early.
After two quarters, it was clear the Jazz were going to bury the tricked up Warriors. Aside from a few exceptions, notably a stretch in the third quarter, the Jazz dominated.
A few observations:
- The Jazz will have two All-Stars. Mark it down.
Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams are that good. Right now.
I dare say, these two will be better than that other dynamic duo who ruled the hardwood in Utah for nearly two decades.
At crunch time, who you picking - Karl Malone or Boozer? I'm taking the ex-Dukie.
Malone was a beast for nearly 20 years, the best run in NBA history. Without him, the Jazz might not even be in Utah - but his struggles in the clutch are well chronicled.
I'm saying in 20 years Boozer won't have that reputation. Late in fourth quarters of playoff games, he will come through.
And Williams will be right there next to him. Within three years - maybe even less, depending on Steve Nash's durability - Williams will be the best point guard on Planet Earth.
All of this after only one game? No way.
This has been building, going back to each player's college career. And it will continue for several years.
Enjoy the ride.
- Be happy Andrei.
Kirilenko's performance last night (9 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 blocks) is cause for great optimism. Those kind of numbers are exactly the kind that make Jazz management smile.
If Kirilenko can't be satisfied after this game, then trade him immediately. He did exactly what they need him to do for 82 games and a long playoff run.
- Right on Ronnie.
Ronnie Brewer has grabbed hold of the starting 2-guard position. It's his to keep.
Now it' up to Jerry Sloan to keep Brewer's confidence growing. Sloan needs to continue playing Brewer, even through the struggles that are sure to come.

Re: Jazz Rule
Ok I agree that Boozer is the man now but what about when they play a team like the rockets or spurs or a team that can play better defense and match up with him? All your other points I agree with and I really like Boozer way better than Malone. I think he will win a championship one day because he is the go to man and does not shy away in the final minutes. Last year already proved this point. There was a huge difference too in the game when Williams had to sit out. He is the leader and will keep the offense going. I like how he is not afraid to take it coast to coast for a layup once in awhile. It keeps the other teams on their feet.
I was switching to the Lakers game once in awhile and they are a mess. I think Fisher got into a way worse situation. I'm just glad we don't have a selfish player like Kobe. Kirlenko even on his most whiniest days does not even come close to the selfishness of Kobe. I've rambled on enough.

Re: Jazz Rule
The Jazz bench did not have to do much last night, but they will need to perform much better this year. Getting Harpring healthy will be a big step. Getting better play from Hart/Price is a must. Gira did just what was needed. But the Jazz need something more from the Center spot. Okur has not been himself for awhile now, and Collins is adequate. Wonder if a trade can be made to add something at this spot later? Because it is the Jazz weakness right now.

Re: Jazz Rule
It was good to see Andrei contribute like he did- but didn't he have these type of numbers against Golden State last year in the playoffs? We need to hold out for a few games to get a better perspective on how he'll do this season.
