Final Score - Lakers 120 Jazz 110
This game was never close. It is very discouraging that the Lakers dictated everything that went on in this game.
It felt like the Jazz were at the Lakers whim at all times.
None of the Jazz stars played well.
Milsap was the best Jazz player tonight -- he was fantastic with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Carlos Boozer questions are going to continue as he was 3 of 10 with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
The Lakers showed more of their offense in this game and the Jazz seemed helpless to stop it.
Deron stats are infalted by hitting three straight three's in the foul portion of the game.
Kobe was unstoppable he had 34, Odom and Gasol were a handful and Fischer was the nail in the coffin.
The Lakers were far shaper than they were in Game 1 and that is daunting.
They say a series doesn't start until the home team losses but this still feels as though quite a statement has been made in the opening two games of this series.
The good news is the Jazz scored but what I don't know is did the Jazz score because the Lakers didn't need to get a stop or did they score because they were capable of scoring. I am not sure the Lakers couldn't have gotten stops when they wanted to.
Kobe is checking back in the game
Halftime -- Lakers 63 Jazz 49
No defense at all in the second quarter
Lakers scored on all but 7 possessions. Jazz scored on all but 8 possessions.
Lakers are shooting 61%
Jazz were turnover free in the 2nd quarter and dominated the glass again.
Milsap has 13 points; AK and Okur have 8 points
Gasol 15; Odom 13; Bryant 12; Fischer 12
2:29 2nd Quarter -- Lakers 55 Jazz 43
Lakers have completely changed the pace and this game at a very high pace
Lakers are 9 of 14 in the quarter. Jazz have just 5 stops in the entire quarter
Deron just hit a three for his first points on the night.
Jazz tried to play zone and that was a joke.
Denzel Washington is in a Yankees hat across the way.
5:46 2nd Quarter -- Lakers 45 Jazz 34
It is hard to live blog with the Laker girls dancing in my face.
Paul Milsap is a mad man. He is everywhere. He has 10 points and is keeping the Jazz in the game.
All the Harpring bashers have a year's worth of ammunition in this performance alone.
Jerry went with Ronnie Price for an extended run.
Gasol is scoring in the post tonight.
Deron and Boozer both scoreless still
9:34 2nd Quarter -- Lakers 35 Jazz 26
Boozer got his third foul on the first possession of the 2nd Quarter on an absurd over the back reach.
Korver transition three.
Bad shots by the Lakers bench.
End of the 1st Quarter -- Lakers 33 Jazz 18
Jazz lead 13-12
Jazz hit 5 of their first 6 and then missed 15 of their next 18 shots. Ouch
A complete disaster. Too much dribbling by the Jazz.. Everytime one of their guys puts the ball on the floor they get in trouble.
The Jazz committed 7 turnovers and most of them were on the dribble, Lakers have 10 points off the turnovers
Lakers hit 12 of 18 shots. Kobe has 10 points, odom has 8
Deron and Boozer are a combined 0 for 5 with 0 points.
Insane pace of play 27 possessions
2:55 1st Quarter -- Lakers 25 Jazz 15
Lakers went on a 13-0 run.
Jazz went 9 possessions without a point
The Jazz are getting in the paint and just getting suffocated
Boozer leaves with 2 fouls and 0 points and 0 rebounds.
The Jazz had a great flow but it is gone. They are getting stuck on one side of the floor/
Jerry and Danny Crawford got into it big time. Sloan ended up with a Tech, a well earned one I may add. If any man every point at another man that many times in another setting police would be called.
Okur and Boozer with 2 fouls.
6:25 1st Quarter -- Lakers 15 Jazz 13
Insane pace to the game early.
The Lakers are trying to get Kobe in early deep post ups out of transition.
Ak is very active.
Jazz scored on 5 of their first 6 possessions
Lakers scored on 6 of their first 7 possessions
Lakers are pushing the tempo and getting a lot of quick early looks.
Jack Black is sitting right across from me.
I wonder if you are a celeb and you get 5th row tickets do you decide not to come
Pre-Game
Kobe gets his MVP -- crowd goes nuts, Kobe said something but I couldn't understand it
His wife is wearing a tutu and his kids are dressed in all sorts of Kobe outfits.
Let me make this clear -- I detest the Lakers, I detest the city and I can't wait to win this game.
Officials
Danny Crawford (23 years and 202 playoffs games)
Greg Willard (19 years and 87 playoff games)
Tony Brothers (he made the AK flop call) (13 seasons and 23 playoff games)
Danny Crawford is the 5th most experienced official in the NBA.

2:24 4th Quarter – Lakers 109 Jazz 99
Not going to happen tonight . We are coming back to Utah down 0-2
I am surprised how much the Lakers dominated this game.
The Jazz were never in it,
Interesting Sloan had Harpring on Kobe which seems absurd but he was quite and non-aggressive and the minute he got AK on him he took off and made every play.
This game was lost a lot earlier than the 4th but a ton of missed opportunities to make it a game. Boozer got blocked with a chance to cut it to 5 and it went the other way for a Fischer 3 that made it a ten point game instead of a 5 point game.
Fischer is just crushing us tonight. He has 22.
5:58 4th Quarter – Lakers 99 Jazz 92
Boozer at the line for two free throws to cut it to 5. Would be the closest since 19-13
Huge play with a chance to cut it 4, Milsap who has been brilliant all night misses a lay-up in traffic and Kobe goes the other way for on a fast break
Lakers are matching every moment Deron is in the game with Fischer
Harpring also missed a jumper that could have made it a 4 point game.
7:50 4th Quarter – Lakers 98 Jazz 89
Jazz can’t make the play to get this into a tighter game
Milsap continues to be great.
How the Jazz insist on leaving Vujacic open from three is beyond me, he shots 46% since Jan 1 from behind the arch
End of 3rd Quarter – Lakers 93 Jazz 83
Sorry I having some internet issues so I lost two posts.
Both teams are scoring at will.
This quarter wasKobe 's world and we just lived in it. He was 6 of 7 for 15pts.
The Jazz are scoring at will, they hit 16 of 25 shots but the Lakers did the same they hit 11 of 18.
I am really surprised that the Lakers are dictating everything so far in this game. I thought the Jazz would have some spans where they were able to dictate the game but it hasn't happened yet.
Both Okur and Boozer have 4 fouls.
Derek Fischer is killing us that ungreatful jerk. He has 19 points.
Odom has 19 and 14 rebounds.

3rd Quarter -- Lakers 80 Jazz 66
I am currently investigating how many Lakers girls have make-up to cover up their stamp tramps. I am at 3.
Boozer finally got a field goal - first possession of the quarter
Lakers are pushing the tempo and getting a lot of transition
Jazz can't stop this team.
I am really surprised how much the Lakers are dictating everything in this series. There really hasn't been a span yet where the Jazz were in control. If the Lakers want to they can. Is the theme so far for the series.

Keys to the Game 2 win
- Contain Odom off the dribble.
- Get Boozer active early mostly if he is guarded by Gasol. If they are hiding Gasol on Okur then let Okur beat him up early.
- Play smart and focused. Game 1 the Jazz didn’t play an intelligent game.
- Play from ahead
- Make the Lakers hit outside shots

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
The Jazz are getting to the paint, they're just not getting the foul calls the Lakers are. This is playing a major part of the flow and scoring of this game.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
Im Sick of
AK driving to the hole
Harprings total lack of athletic ability
Boozer who just doesnt have anything to offer
Sloan for playing Collins (why no Memo?)
Absolute stupidity (how many times will the jazz put someone at the line by grabbing jerseys in the backcourt.. at least twice a game it seems)
I am not surprised by Boozers negative value yet again.. maybe getting him out of the game will let the Jazz real PF play some ball.. but most of all..
where the HELL is DWILL.. 60 minutes now he has been schooled by fischer...

The way the refs unfairly called the first quarter has ruined this game for the Jazz.

WHY in the HELL is HArpring still in the game!!! He is the worst road player in every statistic on this team. Somebody please buy Jerry Slown a laptop and teach him how to look up stats and lineups that work. HARPRING is AWFUL!!!

Nice zone Slown! I thought Jerry's main focus was defense yet he can't see that the Lakers are cutting his stupid goofy zone to pieces. When are Phil Johnson and Jeff Hornacek going to coach this team? Maybe I'll renew my season tickets when I know for sure that Jerry wont be back. By the way Harpring is AWFUL!!!

A few thoughts- if you guys at 1320 are going to pump this thing (blog site) all day on the radio especially you Locke - get someone full time on moderating the posts - its a joke waiting so long to see things posted - I understand you don't want a free for all with personal attacks and vulgarity and all - but come on - no one will come here and "create an atmosphere" when it takes so long to see posts.

I know Salt Lake isn't New York and thats a good thing.
I know Im pissed right now cause the Jazz haven't even shown up.
However - is this game and particular Boozers play enough for the local press - even the LHM paid press to get on this team?

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
Hey Locke - in two hours when you read/post this - please tell us about the turnover on the inbounds pass at the end of the 3rd quarter. TNT was too damned busy showing our Foul Stars Boozer and Memo on the bench and the brilliant announcers didn't explain a damn thing.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
if derick fisher realy cared about his daughter he would move to NY where his daughters hospitol is. And those refs are terrible if jazz get physical they call a foul just cause the lakers arent tough.

LA Lakers and the Boston Celtics. Imagine&fame&fortune&and Oh wait!! The jazz are still in the series. Hey REFS!! Tope Secret Message # 1854 from David Stern The Utah Jazz must loose. I dont care if the Jazz are playing better than the Lakers, if they sneeze or look at the players in any sort of Conduct Unbecoming of a money making franchise, BLOW that whistle!
Wont it be great when the Utah Jazz become a money making franchise for the NBA and we get the calls? Not likely. Go Celtics I guess. :(

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
Once again the Jazz have a chance to make a run while Kobe is on the bench, but oh ya wait Harpring is on the floor so we have to play 4 on 5. There is no way that you commentators on 1320 can support Jerry Slown on his rotation with Harpring. I dont care if Larry Miller pays your salary, if Jerry coached anywhere but Utah he would be torn to pieces by the media.

AK in Harpring out and they can win this game (like to see Memo come in for Loozer too maybe he can foul out).. whatever you do, MILSAP must stay in

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
Leave D. Fish and his daughter out of the blog, that's not cool. We all wish that he was still wearing purple green and gold. (the traditional Jazz colors) That's the only reason to be mad at him. Where are the real Jazzmen anyway? Harpring, worthless, but not as bad as these comments make him out to be.... Boozer?....sad showing for 2008 playoffs. Korver: all socks, no shots in LA.? Brewer is busy tring to guard KOBE, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Jazz bench doesn't exist, except for Milsap, who is busting his (@#$&. Kirlenko should where a shock collar that zaps him if he tries to shoot from outside 10 feet. what are the STATs on that????

My thoughts are that Slown is going to keep coaching this team until its time to sign our stars to longer contracts and Larry wont be able to afford it. At that time when he thinks the team wont be able to carry him he'll quit. Jerry please quit tomorrow, and let Phil Johnson take over.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
This so totally sucks. Hopefully the Jazz give us one game this weekend. I know Jerry is all about player responsibility but the fact that this team didn't show up and had to overcome HUGE holes in BOTH GAMES and just didn't have enough in the 4th quarter is somebodys fault. Sunday maybe you blame quick turnaround - they did the SAME DAMN THING three days later!!!

Six minutes to go 6 point game...Harpring BRICK! Oops Harpring leaves Walton open...wide open 3!!! Ooooweee wait to go Matty, but everyone seems to love your hustle out there. I seriously think the rest of this team hates Harpring, Deron cringes everytime Harpring touches the ball.

Locke, please screen your bloggers for IQ, and just plain idioticness. Thank you... nokster: learn how to spell SLOWN, or go hang out with TRASHIE McGradee.....because sarcasm doesn't carry into cyber-space....some of you people are such morons.... if you don't know anything about basketball: shut up and go back to your mom's basement....... the Jazz are struggling, but they are young, Kobe is pretty good, Phil Jackson is no slouch, they have a spy: Fisher knows the Jazz inside and out.... and most of all, the shots just aren't going down. This series has just begun. The next two are in Utah. doug Collins makes me want to puke. he has a man-love crush on Kobe. GO JAZZ never say die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can we get girecek back? Korver is a total headcase its insane that Brewer does not finish games. Although that probably would not be enough since the jazz have to beat LA and the refs.

Wow there goes three hours that I will never get back. Thanks for the re-run Jerry, Matt and Carlos. Why is it sooooo difficult to come in with a new game plan, maybe CJ MILES instead of Matt "butter fingers" Harpring. Oh ya I forgot Jerry is still pissed cuz CJ didnt play summer ball last year, wow!

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
Unorganized thoughts: 1st quarter refereeing changed the entire game. Millsap was a stud. We need a true center. Celtics/Lakers Finals conspiracy? "Objective" sportswriters and talk-show hosts will say the foul differential is based on the Lakers being more aggressive, which is false. Post-game interview was stupid, bringing up the booing of Fisher in the regular season. Phil Johnson would be worse than Jerry Sloan. When Johnson speaks to the media, he lets loose some excuses which Jerry never allows. Will the Jazz ever win a championship in my lifetime?

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
43 -16 on free throws. Jazz made more fg, had more rebounds, more assists, fewer turnovers. HOW THE !@#!@@ DOES A TEAM GET THAT KIND OF A FREE THROW ADVANTAGE?
I'm so sick of this. TIme for Sloan and some players to complain LOUDLY to the press. Heck, you know Phil Jackson does, even when his team isn't getting jobbed.
Yeah, you can talk about all sorts of other things, but this is the real point here. The refs called it completely the laker's way.
This is why the NBA sucks.
THIS WAS A COMPLETE REF JOB!

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
I know the Lakers didnt have Gasol at the time, but doesnt everyone remember the Jazz wooped the Lakers on Nov 30th?? the other thing I remember about that game is that BOOZER DIDNT PLAY!! I say we trade Boozer in the offseason. I think with the same amount of minutes, Millsap could just as easily average 20 and 10. Plus, Millsap actually protects the rim. I dont think Boozer has ever challenged a shot up high in his life. TRADE BOOZER NOW while we can get something for him.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
It's disappointing to see Boozer and Williams struggle so much in the first half, but I'm not so sure that the Jazz didn't play a good ball game last night. I just think the Lakers played their best and the Jazz just played good enough to beat most teams, including the Lakers on off nights. Jazz are never going to beat the Lakers when they shoot 60% from the field and get 43 foul shots.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 2
I can't believe there is still talk about booing Fisher. Where is there any rule that exempts a player from being booed?
And what is all this malarky about Fish being this great citizen?
Let's refresh our memories:
1. Fish never wanted to come to Utah. When the jazz traded for him, he pouted. Then he demanded that Sloan guarentee playing time.
2. Fisher sucked for the jazz. I dont' care about his leadership. he never played for the jazz the way he played last night, or all this season.
I don't think Fisher wanted to be with the jazz and when he saw an out, he took it.
And wasn't he taking his daughter to NY? Well, then why didnt' he sign with the Knicks? And why did he sign with the lakers so fast?
Hey, jazz fans have a right to boo whoever they want. Fish is not immune and he is not Jesus. He is not perfect and we have no obligation to be nice to him.
He should quit being such a baby and stop acting like the world owes him a favor.
