****David Locke has in and out internet connection in LA.....keep checking back as Locke will continue to post as soon as internet becomes available.

 FINAL SCORE – LAKERS 111 JAZZ 104

A gallant effort and a missed chance.  On the other hand, I don’t think you are going to win many against  a team this good on the road with the turnovers you had in the first half and without a better performance from one of your main stars.

Jack Nicholson just came over and told us, “I don’t want to see you till Christmas.”

:20.5 4th Quarter – Lakers 107 Jazz 102

Sasha misses again and Gasol grabs the rebound and the put-back.  Jazz want a foul for pushing Okur, couldn’t tell from here.  Sloan and Okur were insistent

Huge call by Jerry out of the last timeout, he went to Boozer on a cross screen and got Boozer converted.  Wow that took guts.

Memo took a quick three down 105-102 and missed it.

Deron hit a sick three to put the Jazz within one, but the Lakers converted on a second chance opportunity to put the lead back to three and then Memo missed that three

3:07 4th Quarter – Lakers 99 Jazz 94
Boozer’s nightmare continues, he hit just 1 of 2 free throws and then missed a gimme lay-up off a gorgeous pass from Deron
Then AK missed a three.
I know a lot of you are saying Jerry should pull him.  I am not sure what you do if you are Sloan, Boozer is your guy but he looks lost.  If you pull him you humiliate him and my lose him as a star and your guy and he is really special.  But right now he is really far off his game.  If you don’t you could lose the season.  Milsap is not having a good night either.
Jazz defense has stepped up and gotten stops on 5 of the last 6 possessions.
Sasha Vujacic is 1 for 9.

6:01 4th Quarter -- Lakers 97 Jazz 91
This one is falling on Boozer right now.  He is 2 for 9 in the second half.  He just got beat back door by Odom and then committed a soft stupid foul pushing him in the back when he was beat.  Then on the next play he didn't come to get the ball but got it anyway and then travelled in the post.
He is 0 for 2 in the quarter with a turnover and a big time blown defensive assignment.
Deron is still on top of his game with 5 of the 7 4th quarter points.
Lakers have scored on 7 of 10 trips down the floor.

8:38 4th Quarter – Lakers 89 Jazz 86
Jazz still haven’t taken the lead.  They had one chance but couldn’t convert.
Jazz opened the quarter with AK at the 4 and Deron at the 1
Phil went back to Radmanovic.

End of 3rd Quarter – Lakers 81 Jazz 81
Here we go 12 minutes to take control of the series.
Jazz have not had the lead in LA in this series
Great fight, effort and energy in the 3rd.
Kobe took over for the last part of the 3rd scoring 6 straight Lakers points
Nice drive by Ronnie Price to tie us at 81-81
Jazz got it tied at 73-73, but could never get the lead.
Lot of credit to Ronnie Brewer he has bounced back to have a good 3rd quarter.  He could have hit the tank after getting pulled and ripped on in the 2nd quarter.  This is a good sign for the future.

4:40 3rd Quarter -- Lakers 73 Jazz 71
The Jazz have accomplished their first goal.  Get this game into a possession game.  Great work.
The Jazz have super energy.  They are playing great defense.  They are bumping cutters.  They are the ones making it tough on the Lakers rather than vice versa.
Gasol is useless if you push him off his spot.  The Jazz have done that in this half.  If he is off his spot it takes him too long to get to the rim and he is not a weapon.
Deron is sick, he was 19-9.
Carlos is missing shots he should make, but he also made a great move to the middle off a double that resulted in a Brewer tip in.
AK is guarding Kobe rather than Brewer.   The difference in Kobe's success rate is big between Brewer and AK but fatigue and foul trouble could be an issue.

Halftime -- Lakers 61 Jazz 54

Jazz are still in the game which is fortunate.  They got it down to 55-52 but a lot of the same issue reared their ugly head.  Deron took a bad shot three that lead to a transition basket for Gasol.
Then turnovers caused problems as they did all half.  The Jazz finished with 15 turnovers in the first half.  That is an insane amount, it 30% of the offensive possessions.
CJ Miles came off the bench after Brewer got pulled and got two big baskets and played fairly well.
In all honesty, I am not sure this game is this close, I feel like we are just on the backside of a Jazz run and it is only a matter of time before the Lakers regain control by 12 to 16.  Let's hope I am wrong.

5:53 2th Quarter – Lakers 46 Jazz 35
The Jazz are getting their ass kicked right now in every phase of the game and the game
is nowhere near as close as the score and the score isn’t close
The Lakers are defending great.  They are speeding the Jazz up and the Jazz are making mistakes because of it.
Derek Fisher is setting the tone by busting his ass on Deron.
The Jazz are soft on the glass, scared on offense and not in the game at all
Brewer came in and forgot to guard his man, Sasha.  He hit a three. Jerry pulled him and ripped him like I have rarely seen.  Last guy he ripped like that was Gordan

End of 1st Quarter – Lakers 29 Jazz 26
Jazz should feel fortunate to be this close they have been totally outplayed.
Harpring causes Kobe problems.  My theory is that Kobe is a dirty player and Hapring matches it and isn’t intimidated.  Kobe knows for every nasty dirty move Harpring will do one back.
Kobe went 3 for 6.  3 for 4 on Brewer; 0 for 1 v. AK and Hapring.  Harpring also forced two turnvoes.
Jazz shot 61% with 7 turnovers; Lakers shot 60% with 6 turnovers but hit 4 threes

2:52 1st Quarter - Lakers 25 Jazz 18
Jazz had it down to 19-16 but Radmanovic hit back to back threes.
Jerry switched AK to Kobe and it slowed him down.
The Lakers are not guarding Ronnie Brewer at all.  Kobe was sitting in Boozers lap and not even following Brewer.  Brewer has 10 points and this is largely why.

7:54 1st Quarter -- Lakers 15 Jazz 8
Very poor start for the Jazz
They have committed 5 turnovers
I am very concerned that it looks like Carlos Boozer is making no effort to get the basketball
Kobe is fine.  The back is a non issue.  He is on fire.  He is 3 for 4 with 7 points.
Kobe has been exploding shooting doing whatever he needs. he hit a three, got a slice through the lane and posted up for buckets.
The Jazz have only taken 4 shots on 9 possessions, Brewer has them all and they were all lasyups or dunks.
Jazz were very loose coming out but that didn't seem to be a good indicator.
Also, the crowd booed Steve Javie, the official and he heard it.

Keys to the Game
1.  Get Memo off early to open up Boozer
2.  Be very physical with Gasol.  He gets all of his points off others action so get him out of the key
3.  Plan from ahead

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
I'm at work tonight so I'm glued to your descriptions. I was able to hear the first 8 points by Brewer. It will be interesting to see how the Laker's adjust.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
tough game so far, but it's not out of reach. turnovers hurt hurt hurt. even a poor shot has a 30% chance of going in. gotta watch those passing lanes. where are all of the haters??? maybe you finally scared off those "so called" fans. Go JAZZ! we can do this!!!!!

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
Its kinda tough to win when it's 5 versus 8! There have been some blatant bad calls. Harpring was in perfect position and took a non called charge. The next few times down the court Utah was fouled but nothing was called but L.A got to the line. The Euro Sasha what's his last name tripped over his feet and they called AK for a foul....tell me I'm not the only one who is seeing this?

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
4 min left...
the jazz are 1/7 left of the paint & 7/10 right of the paint... go right!

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
3:55 left, Jazz down by 5, they just called timeout.

Wow, Boozer is struggling. I know it's cliche at this point to pile on Carlos, but come on, he's missed easy layups, that free throw a moment ago, he's gotten burned again and again by Odom, all night long.

Are they suddenly running plays for him and again to open things up around the perimeter at the end??h

The Jazz HAVE to get this game.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
So its all tied up after three quarters and who does Jerry Slown send out to try and take the lead while Kobe is on the bench? Uh... Williams, Korver, AK, Harpring and Okur. Are you serious? Are you trying to leave the lane wide open without a big presence? Wow minus 4 with that lineup, game over, had to take the lead at the start of the fourth. Are you saving Milsap for game seven? He had 4 fouls and you sit him... wow!!! SLOWN!!!

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
I hate Boozer - cant defend Odom (or anyone) to save his GD life.

I hate Boozer - cant block out to grab a rebound to have a chance to tie the game.

I hate Boozer - cant hit a pressure free throw to save his life.

I hate Boozer, I hate Boozer, I hate Boozer.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
Ok I understand that Boozer pushes for rebounds for which he has gotten called for a lot this series.

SO COME ON@!@!@!!@#!#$@!#$@!$@# Call the damn series EVEN please. That is TWICE now that Gasol has pushed Okur and scored. PLEASE JUST EVEN!@!!!!@#$@#$

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
Hoochie mama said 24/12 from DWill would win this game. Both he and Locke underestimated Boozer ability to SUCK!!!!! (Booz hits some fing layups and Dwill has 12 assists)

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
And I really shouldn't watch people like Kevin Harlin. I'm so sick of the "bad back" and all comments. I realize he MIGHT be hurt. Didn't seem bad. Its the Marv Albert syndrome!!!

He put the jersey on, SHUT UP. What about William's wrist or Okur's tendon. NOTHING. ... OK done venting.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
Even though they lost this one, I still feel like they'll give it a ride in games 6 and 7. This resembles the Houston series a lot. Play good MOST of the time on the road in the first three games, hold serve at home, then break through in game 7.

Still... how did the Jazz NOT win with Bryant NOT shooting a single shot in the fourth quarter!? And Vujacic missing all of his attempts? And the Lakers turning it over?

Oh yeah. That's right. Odom over, around and past Boozer again and again and again. And again. And then again.

Sad. This game was a serious chance to end this series and shut every national pundit up once and for all.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
I don't think i have ever yelled at a game so much in my life just because of the officiating. I mean the Jordan push off on russell that has now been replaced by what i believe to be one of the worst refed quarters i have ever seen i hate that MF Steve Javie

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
Maybe I just had expectations like Spurs game 5 last year, but Im just not pissed at the refs. We had like what 8 opportunities to take the lead and could never do it - missed FT's, missed layups, turnovers, like some mental block that every time we had the ball tied or down 1 we just couldn't get over the hump.

Boozer killed us - Odom gets whatever he wants against him, semi transition Odom gets the ball at the elbow and Booz is like 6 feet off him and Odom just drives right at him as Booz backpeddles and just gives up dunk after dunk after layup after layup. Its pathetic.

Our offensive HAS to have a MAN on the block. If Booz won't do it, we need someone who will. We have shooters, what we don't have is room for some mental midget to try and hide on the court in the 4th quarter so he doesn't have to get the ball and be the goat.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
Ya Boozer sucks...so stop running the offense through him!!! not hard to figure out, but Jerry Slown is SLOW to learn. Boozer has struggled all year on the road. What in the hell was that lineup to start the fourth!!! Jerry has lost his mind...oh wait he has never made a game winning decision in the clutch before so what i mean to say is Jerry Slown has never and will NEVER win a championship!!!

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
My favorite quote tonight by Jerry Slown; "our players need to believe that they can win and not just hope to win." Well Jerry I think they know that they can win but they also know that you CANNOT!!! Jerry is to SLOW in the head, this series was lost when he wouldnt pull harpring in game one. Jerry always say "we just want to have an opportunity to keep it close and win in the end." WHAT! That is the dumbest mentality. Instead the Jazz need to have the mindset that we are going to come out and pound the Lakers!!! How many close games do you remember Jerry winning at the end....uh uh uh uh maybe 2!!! Refs hate Slown and they will make him pay every time.

Re: Live Blog -- Jazz v. Lakers Game 5
Hmmm Jerry hates the quick shot...so stop managing your team into a defecite. The quick shot is a result of playing from BEHIND! Jerry is really gettin old...actually he has always sucked!!!
