Here is what Miami Dolphins Head Coach Tony Sparano said to the Media on Monday.
(On his conversation he had with John Beck after yesterday’s practice ) -- “To be honest with you, to put (yesterday’s practice) behind him and to get going. Quarterbacks have days like that. If you’re going to be a quarterback in the National Football League, it’s going to happen. You would have to show me one that it doesn’t happen to. That being said, everyday out here is a new day and what we really want to see, and this is what we talked about here yesterday. You get him out there for a little bit longer period and you see him play nine, 10 plays instead of three or four plays and you want to see how they respond. I thought that John came out here today and he bounced back and had a little bit more of a solid practice this morning.”
(On what he thinks QB John Beck could have improved on) -- “I just think at that position it comes down to decision making. Sometimes a good decision means you have to throw the ball away. If there’s pressure or some of those things, sometimes a great decision, one of the best decisions, is to get rid of the ball, in some of those situations. It’s easier for us to sit here and say that, but when you’re back there and you’re in the tunnel and you have to make those decisions that fast. As you get on in this, those decisions, the game starts to slow down. What we need to remember about John, is that John really is just a one-year player. He didn’t have a lot of game snaps last year, so what he’s getting out here is really valuable for him. I like the way he’s coming along and I think he’s going to be fine. He’ll get better and better. He’s a pretty contentious guy that way.”
